I’m interested in how politics shapes economic decisions—and how economic connections influence relationships across the Taiwan Strait. This blog is my space to explore those questions through independent reading, source comparison, and data analysis.
I consider sources from mainland China, Taiwan, and other countries, paying attention to how different audiences encounter and interpret the same event. By comparing Chinese-language and English-language coverage, I hope to make information gaps more visible and give readers useful context for forming their own judgments.
My approach combines close reading with quantitative analysis. I’m interested in what a news report emphasizes, whose perspective it represents, and whether the available data supports its conclusions. Trade, business, and supply chains are particular areas of interest because they connect political developments with decisions that affect people’s lives.
This blog also records my own learning. I aim to distinguish reported facts from interpretation, acknowledge uncertainty, and revise my views when stronger evidence becomes available. Through this process, I hope to develop a deeper understanding of cross-strait affairs and contribute to thoughtful, informed discussion.
